New integration: PressReader is now on EBSCO Discovery Service

PressReader is now integrated with the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) interface. With our existing Primo integration, it’s now easier than ever for your users to find and explore content on PressReader.

If your institution uses both EDS and PressReader, this integration ensures that PressReader search results appear directly within EDS in a dedicated placard — giving users a streamlined experience. With just one click, they can access full-text articles or explore even more content on the PressReader platform. 

How to configure PressReader in EDS

Before you start, make sure you have your API key. If you don’t have one, send an email to our Libraries team and we’ll get you set up. Please include “EBSCO API Key” as the subject line and mention your institution name within the email.

Steps to enable the integration in EBSCO Experience Manager: 

1. Go to EBSCO Experience Manager and open the Configuration application. 
2. In the left menu, select Integrations and choose PressReader. 
3. The integration will be enabled for all EDS profiles by default, but you can select a specific profile from the drop-down menu if needed. 
4. To modify settings, select Custom. 
5. Enable the integration: Set this to Show to make PressReader content appear in search results. 
6. Enter your API key provided by PressReader. 
7. Sort results: Choose whether PressReader content should be sorted by relevance or date. 
8. Set up proxy access (optional): If needed, add your EZproxy or OpenAthens Redirector prefix to enable authentication. 
   • Example for EZproxy: https://ezproxy.myinstitute.edu/login?qurl= 
   • Example for OpenAthens: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/myopenathensdomain.edu?url= 
9. Check Save across all languages to apply these settings globally. 
10. Click Validate to push the integration to your selected profile(s). 
11. A confirmation window will appear — click Submit to finalize the setup.
    

Success! If everything is configured correctly, a confirmation banner will appear at the top of the PressReader integration page. If you encounter any issues, an error banner will display with troubleshooting details.
