To mark the country’s 50th birthday, Singapore’s most important visual and performing artists have taken on roles celebrating the country’s history. Veteran actor Lim Kay Tong obtained the role of a lifetime, playing the late statesman Lee Kuan Yew in the film 1965. Among many defining moments in a career that thrust him into stardom, Lim Kay Tong values his opportunity to portray Singapore’s founder above all. Macau’s Appetite for Success

Chef Bill_v2As Macau shifts its position from VIP gambling mecca to a more holistic experience, its cultural and culinary attractions have multiplied. They now include a wave of high-end and highly acclaimed restaurants that have opened in recent years, including City of Dreams’ Jade Dragon and The Tasting Room, Wynn Macau’s Wing Lei and Golden Flower, and Grand Lisboa’s Robuchon au Dôme and The Eight, to name but a few.

There’s even more to come. Diners will have to wait until 2016 for celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen at Sands, but Galaxy Macau’s Phase Two adds a number of new restaurants to a fine-dining roster that currently includes Belon and Yamazato. There’s Lai Heen, 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana, Fook Lam Moon and the stylish Ritz-Carlton Café. Philippines’ Modern Masters

Philipine TatlerDesign takes the spotlight, with a rundown of the year’s best, from furniture to jewelry to hotels. Dynamic duo Antonio “Budji” Layug and Royal Pineda, August’s cover stars, discuss their renovation of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which has breathed new life into modern Filipino design and architecture.
