Day 10 of the London 2012 Paralympic Games

The Paralympics have reported a new record in ticket sales!  More than 2.7 million tickets have been sold this year which is more than 900,000 more than the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. Part of the sales success is attributed to the affordability of the tickets with more than half the tickets available for only £10 or less.

A new record has also been set by cyclist turned swimmer, Sarah Storey. The 34 year old won the Women’s Road Race, earning her 11th gold medal and making her Britain’s most successful female Paralympian on Thursday.

Jonnie Peacock of Great Britain also won Gold yesterday in the most anticipated race of the 2012 Paralympic’s, the clash of the blade runners. The 19 year old earned the title of the world’s fastest amputee runner with a world record time of 10.58 seconds. He defeated South Africa’s medal favorite Oscar Pistorious who came in fourth place.
