Day 6 Feature Athlete: Gabrielle Douglas

Dominating headlines worldwide, it’s no surprise Gabrielle Douglas is today’s feature athlete.

At sixteen years old, Douglas is the first African-American woman to earn the biggest prize in the Games Gymnastics, the Gold medal and all-around title. With a score of 62.232, she beat Russian gymnast Victoria Komova by less than three-tenths of a point. Aliya Mustafina, also Russian, took home the Bronze medal.
