Day 5 of the London 2012 Games

Day 5 of the Games proved to be an interesting one for Women’s Badminton Doubles. Eight women, four from South Korea and two each from China and Indonesia have all been disqualified after deliberately trying to lose their games in an effort to be paired with an easier opponent in the next match. The athletes were booed by 16,000 spectators as they watched the women deliberately serving into the net and outside the court lines. Olympic organizers called the behaviour “depressing and unacceptable”.

In other news, events coming up today for Day 6 of the London 2012 Games include Women’s Judo, Women’s beach volleyball, and Men’s Swimming with Michael Phelps competing for another medal.
